Welcome to BuddyShare!

BuddyShare is an application designed to help users manage expenses and intelligently split shared costs among members participating in events, trips, gatherings, and other group activities.

The application allows users to create and manage events, invite participants, record expenses, track individual contributions, calculate shared costs, and monitor outstanding balances between members. BuddyShare aims to make shared expense management more transparent, convenient, and efficient.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BuddyShare (the “Application” or “Service”), including its website and mobile applications available on supported platforms.

By registering an account, logging in, or using BuddyShare, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please discontinue using the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must meet the minimum age requirements under applicable laws to use BuddyShare.

If you are under the legally required age, your use of the Application must be approved and supervised by a parent, legal guardian, or other authorized person in accordance with applicable laws.

By using BuddyShare, you agree to provide truthful information and comply with these Terms and all relevant applicable laws.

2. User Accounts

2.1. Account Registration

To access features that require authentication, you must register an account and provide the information requested by BuddyShare.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate, complete, and up-to-date registration information.
  • Keeping your login credentials secure and not sharing your account with others for unauthorized use.
  • Being responsible for activities carried out through your account, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
  • Notifying BuddyShare if you discover any signs of unauthorized access to or use of your account.

BuddyShare reserves the right to request verification of information when necessary to protect accounts and ensure the accuracy of user data.

2.2. Account Management and Security

You must not use another person’s account without permission, impersonate another individual, or engage in activities intended to gain unauthorized access to the system.

BuddyShare may implement protective measures, restrict access, temporarily suspend, or terminate accounts if it detects violations of these Terms, security risks, or lawful requests from competent authorities.

3. Events and Group Expense Management

3.1. Creating and Managing Events

BuddyShare allows users to create and manage events for the purpose of organizing and tracking shared expenses.

Events may include trips, meals, gatherings, parties, group activities, or other occasions involving multiple participants and shared costs.

Users who create events may be able to:

  • Provide event names, descriptions, dates, and other relevant information.
  • Invite other users to participate in an event.
  • Manage event participants.
  • Record and manage expenses associated with the event.
  • View expense summaries and individual financial balances.

Event creators are responsible for ensuring that the information they provide is accurate and appropriate.

3.2. Inviting and Participating in Events

Users may invite other individuals to join an event through the invitation features provided by BuddyShare.

By joining an event, participants may gain access to relevant event information, shared expense records, and financial summaries according to their assigned permissions.

Participants are responsible for:

  • Reviewing event information before joining.
  • Providing accurate information when required.
  • Reviewing expenses and their assigned shares.
  • Communicating with other participants regarding any questions or disagreements about shared expenses.
  • Respecting the privacy and information of other event members.

Joining an event does not automatically mean that BuddyShare guarantees or verifies any financial obligations between participants.

3.3. Recording and Managing Expenses

BuddyShare allows users to record expenses incurred during events or group activities.

Expense information may include:

  • Expense descriptions and categories.
  • Expense amounts and currencies, where supported.
  • The person who paid for the expense.
  • The participants who share the expense.
  • Expense dates and other related details.

3.4. Expense Splitting and Calculation

BuddyShare provides tools to help users calculate and distribute shared expenses among event participants.

Depending on the available features, expense allocation may be based on equal splitting, individual amounts, selected participants, or other supported allocation methods.

Expense calculations and financial summaries are generated based on the information entered by users and the allocation rules selected within the Application.

Users are responsible for reviewing the calculated amounts and confirming that the expense distribution reflects their agreements.

BuddyShare acts as an expense management and calculation tool. It does not independently verify the accuracy of expense information or the agreements made between participants.

3.5. Balances and Settlement Tracking

BuddyShare may provide features that allow users to view:

  • The total expenses of an event.
  • The amount paid by each participant.
  • Each participant’s allocated share of expenses.
  • Outstanding amounts owed between participants.
  • Amounts that participants are entitled to receive.
  • Settlement status and expense history.

Financial balances displayed in BuddyShare are calculated based on the records and information entered by users.

Users are responsible for reviewing their balances and coordinating directly with other participants to resolve outstanding amounts.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, BuddyShare does not directly transfer, receive, hold, or process money between users.

Recording a payment or marking an expense as settled within the Application does not, by itself, constitute confirmation that an actual financial transfer has occurred.

4. Financial Information and User Responsibilities
